Lithuanian representation at Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market
Every year at the beginning of February, the world’s largest short film event takes place in France — the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival — attracting more than 50,000 film enthusiasts from around the globe. Due to its significance within the European film industry, the festival is often referred to as the “Cannes of short films.” Alongside the festival, the Short Film Market is held — the largest and most important marketplace dedicated to short cinema worldwide — bringing together up to 4,500 film industry professionals.
Since 2013, a Lithuanian stand has been presented annually at the Market, organised by the “Lithuanian Shorts.” Since 2022, in collaboration with partners from Estonia and Latvia, a joint Baltic stand titled “Baltic Shorts” has been implemented.
At the stand, visitors are introduced to the latest catalogue of Lithuanian short films, receive consultations regarding Lithuanian and Baltic film industries, explore co-production opportunities, establish new partnerships, and participate in meetings and events. Market attendees — including filmmakers, festival organisers and programmers, representatives of VoD platforms, television broadcasters, film funds, and film schools — are also introduced to short film initiatives taking place across the Baltic region. These include the Vilnius Short Film Festival, the Baltic short film industry event “Baltic Pitching Forum,” short film script development residency “Baltic Shorts Residency,” and other Lithuanian Shorts initiatives.
The joint “Baltic Shorts” stand and its activities are organised by the Lithuanian Shorts in cooperation with the Latvian Short Film Agency, Latvian Film Centre, “PÖFF Shorts” and the Estonian Film Institute. The institutional partner and supporter of Lithuania’s participation in the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Market is the Lithuanian Film Centre.
