Every year, the Poitiers Film Festival honors a country where new cinema is being invented. In 2024, we’re heading for Lithuania, with a futuristic, feminine focus!
With its special focus on student films, the festival has identified an abundant pool of young talent within and emerging from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA), the only specialised film
school in Lithuania. The focus will be an opportunity to showcase the school’s latest productions and to integrate an alumni into the festival’s professional support workshops: Jump In.
The focus will show just how present and active women are on the Lithuanian film scene. Directors, scriptwriters and producers will be on hand to accompany screenings of their films (presentations, meetings, master classes).
Particular emphasis will be Locationd on the social science-fiction genre, through Kristina Buožytė’s, and the short films in a program developed with the Lithuanian Shorts agency on the theme of “visions of the future”.
