The Man and the River
The documentary reveals the work of Jurgis Rimvydas Palys, an 82-year-old architect, artist, and urban planner. Throughout his career, he dedicated himself to visions that could have transformed the face of his hometown, Kaunas—particularly by integrating the city’s main river, the Nemunas, into urban life. However, over 50 years, these dreams remained unrealized and forgotten, and Kaunas never became the city Palys had envisioned. The film introduces viewers to the architect’s visions and encourages them to see the city through his eyes. It is a story of a man’s love for his city, unfulfilled dreams, and new hopes, inviting viewers to look at their own cities from a different perspective, to notice them, engage with them, and experience them.
