Christmas Eve, the Soviet era, everyone is working. At the State Opera and Ballet Theatre, the longest performance, Swan Lake, is coming to an end, in which Rūta dances a swan in the corps de ballet. After the perfomance Rūta notices some kūčiukai (traditional Lithuanian Christmas eve pastries) left on her table, which she hides in her pockets before leaving. Rūta meets the ballet director and the répétiteur, who inform her that in tomorrow’s performance she will have to dance the role of the little rabbit.

Director’s Biography

Gailė Butvilaitė

Gailė Butvilaitė is an actress who graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (course supervisor – Oskaras Koršunovas). She works at the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre, OKT / Vilnius City Theatre, and also writes film and television scripts in Lithuania and Spain. She debuted as a director and screenwriter with her first short film “December 24, 1977”.
