Director’s Biography
Karolis Vilkas
Karolis Vilkas was born in the charming town of Prienai, Lithuania. Growing up in this place, he was always surrounded by rich culture and history, which played a significant role in shaping who he is today. After finishing school, Karolis found himself at a crossroads – he had been accepted into aviation pilot, firefighter, and acting programs. Ultimately, he decided to follow his passion for acting. Although he sometimes wonders whether this decision was the right one, it led him to where he is now. Completing his acting studies allowed Karolis to develop his skills and deepen his love for the craft. During his studies, Karolis directed a play called “Childhood”, which remains one of his favorite projects to this day. The work received excellent audience reviews, and the cast consisted of 22 of his university friends. It was amazing to see how their hard work paid off! Following this, Karolis worked with part of the same team on a children’s play called “Little Joe the Indian”. While the play turned out to be a bit too dark for its young audience and was eventually discontinued, it was still an intriguing experience for him.
Today, Karolis focuses primarily on his role in the popular play “Weddings”, where he plays the groom. This has been an incredible journey – with over 300 performances and even tours across Europe! In addition to theater, Karolis has been actively working in the film industry since 2016, primarily in the art department. He spent a lot of time as a decorator and, in recent years, has been working as a props master on various projects. Each new role brings exciting challenges, and Karolis thoroughly enjoys being part of the storytelling process in film. Sometimes, when Karolis starts to feel bored, he feels compelled to create something of his own. This drive led to his project “Cemetery”, which allowed him to express emotions related to the struggles of saying goodbye to loved ones. Currently, Karolis is exploring ideas for a new film and eagerly anticipates what’s next.
