Jūratė Leikaitė

1982 – 1986 Jurate Leikaite studied and graduated architecture in Vilnius Art Academy.

Since In 1997 Jurate has graduated animation course in Lithuanian Film Studio. Since 1998 she has worked in Lithuanian Film Studio as animation film director, artist and screenwriter. The same year Jurate Leikaite has joined Lithuanian Cinematography Union, Animation Guild. Since 2004 Jurate is giving lectures in Vilnius Art Academy and Vilnius College of Technology and Design. She is a producer and director of studio „Filmu Strichai“.

Jurate is working as children books illustrator. Jurate Leikaite‘s films are travelling around the word, winning different prizes in international animation film festivals. Film „Fern Blossom “ won Special Jury prize in International Film Festival „Tindirindis“ for the best interpretation of Lithuanian folklore and best premiere. Animation film „Shrovetide“ won Grand Prix in International Film Festival „Tindirindis“ for the best Lithuanian film. Both „Easter Morning“ (2008) and „Laima determines the Destiny“ (2011) were granded with „Silver Crane“ award for the best Lithuanian animation film award for the best composer in film, who was K.Mašanauskas.

She is a member of Lithuanian Cinema Academy „LIKA“.
